Macrodyne and AEM Power Systems to Present New Groundbreaking Technology for Superplastic Forming at IMAT 2022

TORONTO, Ontario, September 1, 2022 – Macrodyne Technologies Inc., North America’s largest hydraulic press manufacturer, and AEM Power Systems, an R&D, engineering design, and custom manufacturer of unique industrial heat transfer systems for superplastic forming tools, has announced that they will be presenting their disruptive new technology at the 2022 International Materials, Applications & Technologies show (IMAT) in New Orleans.

The presentation, given by the President of AEM Power Systems, Eugene Ryzer, and the Director of Business Development at Macrodyne, Jeff Walsh, will take place on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 4:00 PM, at New Orleans Ernest N Morial Convention Center – room 264.  It will be under the Light Metal Technology section of the show and is entitled “Disruptive advancements in Superplastic Forming using Gas Oscillation Technology. The presentation will highlight how this new technology allows for significant increases in formability, far beyond conventional SPF processes, used for Aluminum, Magnesium, and Titanium Alloy Sheets,” and will include all the latest developments and a look into the future.

Gas Oscillation Forming Technology is the first real advancement being introduced to the Superplastic blow forming process in decades. Macrodyne’s SPF press with gas oscillation forming system can be used on Aluminum, Magnesium, Titanium, and other alloys.  This new technology will benefit the aerospace, automotive, defense, medical, architectural, marine sectors, and many other industries.

The patented technology transforms the decades-old conventional SPF process into Oscillation Enhanced SPF providing benefits such as light-weighting opportunities, reduced cycle times, fewer presses, thinner materials, and lower operating costs, increased quality, new contracts, longer tool life, to name a few.

“We’re excited to be presenting the latest results, which is the first steps of making the Oscillation Enhanced SPF process the new standard for Superplastic Forming,” said Walsh. “Oscillation Enhanced SPF process is a paradigm shift in technological thinking and development of innovative technology to radically transform the future of conventional Superplastic Forming,” complemented Ryzer.
