Tube and Pipe Forming presses

Macrodyne’s Tubular Forming Presses can be either vertical, horizontal or inclined orientations and can be supplied as standalone equipment or as part of a fully automated Tubular processing line for the following applications:

  • Tube and Pipe Upsetting

A wide variety of features and benefits are available, some of which are listed below.

 

Rigid Press Structures, including deep slides with high width to height ratios accommodate the forces experienced in a wide variety of metalforming applications. The design of these structures are optimised using finite element analysis, resulting in increased part quality consistency due to minimal deflection of the press frame and dies.

Advanced Press Controls provide precise control of bolster motion and feature multi-step profiling including speed control, pressure control with variable ramp rates between profiles allowing for highly configurable process control.

Accumulator Drive Packages are available for applications where ultra-high pressing speeds are a process requirement. These packages are fully programmable and can be selected as required based on pre-stored part parameters.

Induction Furnaces may be optionally supplied and integrated with the main press controls for pre-heating of billets prior to extrusion or heat-treating after forming.

Part Temperature Control Packages ensure billet temperatures are within the specified range required by the Buyer’s specific process. These packages are also typically provided with billet temperature reject chutes to accommodate automatic removal of billets that do not meet process requirements.

Automated Tubular/Billet Handling Systems may be optionally supplied with our presses to receive, stage and feed raw billets through an induction heater and onto the press feeder. The press feeder then places each tubular/billet at the entrance to the heating container in the press on demand.

Slug Pushers & Scrap Conveyors provide rapid and efficient removal of slugs and scrap material from the press, enhancing the process flow while reducing cycle times.

Die and Bed Plate Changing Systems are available for rapid and safe changing of dies. These are customizable and are available in a variety of configurations.

High Ratio Guiding Systems are available with automatic centralised grease lubrication packages and provide precision guiding, parallel slide motion and enhanced eccentric load capacity.

Energy Efficient Hydraulic Drive Packages, featuring proportional flow control pumps and variable frequency drives result in reduction of energy consumption up to 70% compared to conventional hydraulic drive packages.
