Composite Presses Optimized for High Volume Production of all Compression Molded Parts
A Macrodyne hydraulic compression molding press is designed for the high volume production of molded components ranging from small thin, precision parts to large thick parts featuring a myriad of intricate shapes. Fast pressing cycles ensure maximum production output and prevent residual stresses in the parts, resulting from material viscosity increases during the composite press’s closing.
Precise control of platen motion is a key success factor in compression molding applications, specially when the press is used with Sheet molding compound (SMC), and Bulk molding compound (BMC), and Direct long fiber thermoplastic (DLFT). This is readily achieved on our compression molding presses through the use of our proprietary hydraulic circuits and press control systems.
Direct Compounding of Long Fiber Thermoplastics (D-LFT)
Macrodyne offers fully automated Direct Compounding of Long Fiber Thermoplastics (D-LFT) systems where the glass rovings and the thermoplastic resin are compounded in a twin-screw extruder. Once extruded, the heated material is picked up by a robot and placed in the mold inside the press. A unique feature of the Macrodyne D-LFT system is the optional ability to also do fully automated SMC molding using the same press load and unload robots and adding an SMC slitting table and a deflash station.
